A woman claims she can't sleep in her bedroom anymore as the mould problem in the room is so bad.
Keisha South said the issues in her home, in Morland Road, Sheffield, started within a few months of moving in.
The mould is so bad that she now has mushrooms growing on her kitchen ceiling.
Her walls are also covered in thick, black mould in her bedroom and bathroom, reports YorkshireLive.
The mould is causing her to cough and have a constantly runny nose, she claims.
The 19-year-old has been living in the home for just over a year and the problems began just after a few months of moving in.
She said: "The problems started around December when I had just finished painting and decorating while I was at sixth form.
"At first it was in my bedroom where the whole wall had started to turn black.
"After I washed it and cleaned it, it would just come back again.
"Then in around January/February time the bathroom started to slowly get worse on the ceiling. Many times when I have been in the shower the tiles would just fall off.
"The council took my shower off so it was ready for the tiles to be sorted but then they haven't been back for about a month now to put it back on.

"The mould in my bedroom also kept coming back and began to peel off the wallpaper because it got so bad."
When June arrived, the situation got worse when a leak caused water to run over the ceiling in the kitchen.
It resulted in mushrooms growing from the ceiling in the room and falling off onto the floor.
Keisha said the issues in her home are starting to affect her health now the weather is getting colder.

She added: "Because it's getting colder my bedroom is getting so bad that I can't sleep in there anymore.
"It's just been getting worse and worse and it has really effected my schoolwork and attendance. I couldn't get out of bed because of the lack of motivation as the house was falling apart.
"I've had a blocked and runny nose for over nine months now and for the past four months I have been coughing when I am in my bedroom and my chest has been playing up.
"I just don't know what else to do."
