What did Trump say in his message?

President Trump released a video to his Twitter account on Saturday night while he is staying at the Walter Reed medical center following his coronavirus diagnosis.

In the clip, he thanked and assured his supporters that he and First Lady Melania Trump are feeling better.

"I came here, wasn't feeling so well. I'm feeling much better now," Trump said.

"I’m starting to feel good. You don’t know over the period of a few days – I guess that’s the real test."

"We’ll be seeing what happens over the next couple of days."

Trump may be discharged as soon as Monday if he continues to show improving signs.

He added that he will "'be back soon" and will "finish the campaign."

"We’re gonna beat this coronavirus – or whatever you want to call it – and we’re going to beat it soundly,” Trump vowed.

Trump added that the medicines given to him and the treatments available “look like they’re miracles coming down from God.”

What are the editing rumours?

Viewers immediately suggested that the clips was edited to remove the president coughing on camera.

At around one minute five seconds into the four minute video, the president appears to hiccup slightly.

Some believe that he averted the cough by hiccuping but others say it was an edit to make him look healthy while addressing the public.

Experienced editors say that Adobe Premiere’s “morph cut tool” was used to cut out the cough on camera.

Christopher Orr, a contributing writer for The Atlantic and Forbes, tweeted that there was an edit on the video.

“'Clearly a cut here. Hard to imagine any rationale other than persuading the American public that he is healthier than he actually is,” Orr said.

Another user tweeted: “Good grief! Proof of life / doing well video and they botch it with the edit. WH is run by 8yr olds.”

How is Trump doing?

President Trump claims to be feeling better but will wait out how the medicine reacts to the virus to be able to provide another update.

Earlier, Dr. Sean Conley, alongside nine other members of the president's medical team, provided an update from the Walter Reed medical center.

Conley said the president was in "exceptionally good spirits" and that Trump had said, "I feel like I could walk out of here today."

Following the update, Trump tweeted: "Doctors, Nurses and ALL at the GREAT Walter Reed Medical Center, and others from likewise incredible institutions who have joined them, are AMAZING!!!

"Tremendous progress has been made over the last 6 months in fighting this PLAGUE. With their help, I am feeling well!"

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany shared an update from Trump's doctor on Saturday.

Conley said Trump "made substantial progress since diagnosis," and has taken two doses of Remdesivir.

"He remains fever-free and off supplemental oxygen with a saturation level between 96 and 98% all day," Conley said.

"He spent most of the afternoon conducting business, and has been up and moving about the medical suite without difficulty.

"While not out of the woods, the team remains cautiously optimistic," Conley added.
