Two people were injured in a shooting near Fort Detrick Army base in Maryland Tuesday morning that also left the gunman — an active-duty member of the Navy — dead, according to police and a report.

Shots rang out at Riverside Tech Park in Frederick — about a 10-minute drive from the military base — around 8:20 a.m., Police Chief Jason Lando said at a press conference.

The 38-year-old shooter and two victims were not immediately identified but Lando described them as all adult males.

“The shooter went into a business and some people fled from the business,” he said, adding that investigators weren’t sure if the shooting took place inside or outside.

Sources told ABC 7 that the shooter is an active-duty member of the Navy.

The gunman then fled to Fort Detrick, where he was shot and killed by law enforcement, Lando said. A motive is not yet known.

Both victims are in critical condition.

Fox 45 in Baltimore reported that the incident took place at NicoLock Paving Stones on Progress Court.

Police will hold another press conference with more details Tuesday afternoon.
