A promising teenage sportsman has died after accidentally shooting himself in the hip with a handgun, according to reports.
Ty Jordan was a student at the University of Utah where he was making waves as a star on the field of American Football.
However, the 19-year-old tragically died on Boxing day after being involved in a handgun accident in the early hours of the day.
Police were called to a property responding to sounds of a gunshot where they discover the injured sports enthusiast.
He was rushed to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead – with police believing the shooting was an accident.
