Socialite Rebecca Grossman kills two young boys in Los Angeles crash

Socialite Rebecca Grossman plowed her Mercedes into two young boys — killing both in front of their parents in Los Angeles, according to authorities there.

Grossman, 57, the former publisher of Westlake Magazine, was arrested after her white Mercedes struck brothers Mark Iskander, 11, and his 9-year-old brother, Jacob, at a crosswalk in Westlake Village around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, CBS Los Angeles said.

“Preliminary information indicates two juveniles were struck by a motorist while crossing the street,” the LA County Sheriff’s Department said on Facebook. “One juvenile was pronounced dead on scene; the second juvenile was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a few hours later.”

Mark Iskander died at the scene, and his brother at the hospital, NBC News in LA reported.

Grossman was arraigned on two counts of vehicular manslaughter and ordered held on $2 million bail, the sheriff said.

She was released on bail shortly before 12:30 a.m. Thursday, NBC said.

The boys were with six family members, including their parents, when they crossed the three-way intersection, the outlet said. Their mother heard the speeding car racing towards them and tried to pull the children back, but wasn’t able, the station said.

LA sheriff’s department Capt. Salvador Becerra said cops believe speed and alcohol were factors in the fatal crash.
