A vigil to celebrate the life of Sarah Everard has been cancelled after discussions with the Metropolitan Police fell through, organisers have said.

Sarah Everard, 33, left a friend’s house on Leathwaite Road, Battersea, in London at around 9pm and was last seen walking towards her home in Brixton at 9.30.

The marketing manager then vanished into thin air and a Metropolitan Police search saw officers scour the ponds of Clapham Common and visit more than 750 residences.

On 9 March the force revealed a serving Metropolitan Police officer had been arrested in connection with Ms Everard’s disappearance, and following the discovery of her remains in Ashford, Kent, he has been charged with her murder and kidnap.
