Princess Charlotte will go by a different name at school as she starts new term

It’s back-to-school time, which means Prince George and Princess Charlotte are expected to head back to the classroom this week.

Princess Charlotte, who celebrated her fifth birthday on May 4, goes to school at Thomas’s Battersea in South London.

The school is reopening this week, and it’s believed Kate Middleton and Prince William s’ children will be returning to London.

Charlotte’s big brother George, 7, is also a pupil at the £19,287-a-year private school.

The siblings may be real-life royalty, but insiders say the Prince and Princess are treated just like everyone else as soon as they walk through the school gates.

This means Charlotte’s classmates don't use her royal titles when speaking to her.

Instead, she will have been given a last name, just like the rest of her peers.

Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, but her official title is Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

But as you might expect, this is a big of a mouthful for the kids in the playground.

Charlotte will most likely use the same surname her older brother and other members of the Royal Family use – Cambridge, as reported by the Mirror.

When Prince William and Prince Harry went to school, they both used their father’s title, the Prince of Wales, as their surname.

They were known as William Wales and Harry Wales in school and during their military careers.

This means she’ll be known as Charlotte Cambridge to her classmates, similar to how her brother is known as George Cambridge.
