A POSH West End restaurants has been slammed for charging porky prices on their bangers and mash – costing punters £37 a pop.
The eye-watering menu at Langan’s Brasserie, West London, claims that the porkers are filled with a “rare” cut of meat.
Famous faces, including Sir Rod Steward, were attracted to the luxury Mayfair eatery's relaunch in the capital despite the outrageous prices.
Rival chef Pierre Koffman has warned fans of the eatery off their extravagant prices, saying: “The prices may give you indigestion.
“I’d be interested to meet the accountant who thought that £37 for bangers and mask was a bright idea.”
On the menu the “bangers and mash” is served with onion jam and Perigord Sauce – which is made from expensive black truffles and truffle oil.
Langham’s has hit back at the critics, claiming: “The sausages are made with rare-breed pork, stuffed with a slice of fresh Foie Gras and wrapped in Caul fat.”
While they do not go into detail about what kind of rare breed creates their porkers, Caul fat can cost up to £16 per 900g.
A whole roasted chicken for two diners also costs a whopping £105, and is serves with baby potatoes, pearl onions and bacon.
Fresh macaroni pasta with wild mushrooms, parsley and garlic will also set you back £33, with chips and green beans coming in as the cheapest item on the menu at £6.50.
Their breakfast menu also has some cheaper options, with a croissant costing £4.50 and toast alongside butter and jam coming in at £5.50.
The restaurant found itself under new ownership after being rescued from closure after being hit hard by the pandemic, has also banned tracksuits and trainers.
It had to shut in March because of the Covid-19 pandemic tand did not reopen following the loosening of coronavirus restrictions earlier this year.
But the restaurant has been rescued under the direction of school friends Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen.
The famed 1980s celebrity haunt opened in 1976 under then-co-owners Michael Caine and restaurateur Peter Langan.
