A man pushing a bicycle was hit by a vehicle in Wheat Ridge on Monday night and died at the scene, police said.
The accident happened at about 9:10 p.m. at West 49th Avenue and Kipling Street, said Sara Spaulding, a police spokeswoman.
The man was pushing the bicycle through the area where road construction was underway and where the crosswalk was shut down by the work, Spaulding said.
Work was scheduled Monday night and detours had been set. The work included installation of new center medians and new traffic signal poles.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene Monday night. An investigation is ongoing. The identity of the man who was killed has not yet been released.
