Man charged with murder of missing 20-year-old woman as police search for body

A man in his sixties has been charged with murder in connection with the disappearance of a woman from west London two weeks ago.

Neculai Paizan, 63, was arrested on Tuesday, May 8, by officers investigating the disappearance of 20-year-old Agnes Akom.

Ms Akom, from Cricklewood, was reported missing a fortnight ago, and was last seen on Sunday, May 9. She is understood to have been a sex worker.

Paizan was charged with murder on Sunday, May 23. He will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court later today.

A Met Police spokesperson told the Daily Star: “Agnes’ body has not yet been found.

"Detectives are still pursuing all possible lines of enquiry and are appealing for the public to come forward if they see or have seen anything suspicious that they feel may be relevant.”

The area surrounding Lennox Auto car trader on North Acton Road in North Acton was subjected to a detailed search by Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command and forensics teams for three days at the end of last week, according to local reports.

One one local resident told MyLondon that there had been 'a lot of police activity at this address over the last three days', with 'around 10 detectives' talking to residents and business-owners.

He added: "The Met Police serious crime team was here yesterday with dogs and specialist search teams searching alleyways.

"They had forensics here from Tuesday morning until today. I think someone's missing, that's what I heard…some girl or something.

"I think something happened on the other side of the showroom."

A police helicopter was also seen searching the West Hendon playing fields and Welsh Harp reservoir in connection with the investigation on Friday.

Agnes, also known as Dora, is a Hungarian national who has been living in the UK for five years.

She reportedly left her home address in the Cricklewood Broadway area on the morning of Sunday, May 9, and was reported missing on Tuesday, May 11.
