Harry ‘uses HRH title on Lilibet’s birth certificate’ despite Queen’s order

Prince Harry's HRH title has appeared on his daughter Lilibet's birth certificate after he was told not to use it by the Queen, it has been reported.

The document, which was obtained by TMZ, lists his first name as "The Duke of Sussex" and his last as "HRH".

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle's name was written as "Rachel Markle" as Meghan is her middle name.

Birth certificates are public documents in the US state of California, where the couple now live in a £11m Montecito mansion.

The couple were told not to use their HRH titles following their bombshell Megxit announcement in January last year.

Buckingham Palace said they were allowed to keep the titles but should never use them as they were "no longer working royals".

They could still be called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as those honours were gifted to them by the Queen on their wedding day.

Prince Harry's HRH title was last week used in error in notices at a new royal fashion exhibition featuring his mother Princess Diana's wedding dress.

The dresses worn by Diana were described as "Lent by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duke of Sussex" in placards at Kensington Palace.

The Royal Collection Trust, which oversaw the loan of the gowns, blamed an "administrative error" and said the labels "were incorrect and will be updated".

Revelations over Lili's birth certificate are reminiscent of a row over her older brother Archie's following his birth in May 2019.

Harry and Meghan hit back at reports that suggested Meghan had removed her Christian names from Archie's birth certificate, meaning she was listed as "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex".

They insisted that the removal of her names had been "dictated by the Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials".

Critics have questioned whether the couple should have their royal titles removed due to their high-profile public remarks after quitting the Firm last March.

Harry and Meghan have made a string of public criticisms against the Royal Family and signed multi-million pound deals with Netflix and Spotify.

In their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the pair alleged racial remarks were made by an unnamed member of the Royal Family and said they had suffered neglect.

Harry and Meghan also criticised Donald Trump during the US presidential election and lent moral support to the Black Lives Matter movement last year.

The duke and duchess were also recently been demoted on the official Royal Family website, now listed below Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, as well as the Princess Royal and the Duke of York.
