Greggs recalls Iceland vegetable bakes over fears they contain slivers of glass

UK bakery giant Greggs is recalling one of its products which is exclusively sold in supermarket Iceland.

Details of the food alert appeared on the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website after concerns a product may contain small pieces of green glass.

Customers are being told not to eat certain frozen vegetable bakes which are made by Greggs and then sold in Iceland stores across the country.

The bakery and the FSA have made it clear that the food alert does not effect any products sold in Greggs bakery stores.

The product of concern listed by the FSA is the £2 Vegetable Bakes (2 pack) at 310g, but only with specific best before dates.

The product has since been withdrawn from Iceland, and the FSA is asking people to return affected products to the stores they were originally bought in.

A statement on the FSA website said: "Greggs is recalling Vegetable Bakes (2 pack) because the product may contain small pieces of green glass.

"The possible presence of glass makes this product unsafe to eat. This product is exclusively sold in Iceland Stores and does not affect the products sold in Greggs"

There is no further information on how or when glass may have made its way into the vegetable bakes but Greggs has apologised for the concerns the incident has caused.
