Christmas market branded ‘UK’s worst’ for selling £12 marshmallow tub

A Christmas market dubbed the worst in the UK has sent Brits into meltdown after charging £12 for a tub of marshmallows.

Leicester Square’s Christmas market finished bottom place in Instagram reviewer foodguideranking’s annual competition last year – and although it has improved slightly since, the eye-watering price for snacks has sparked ridicule online.

It was slammed by reviewers as “small, dungy, dingy and nasty” in 2021 and although a clip shows it looking a little bit more festive this time round, the only thing people can focus on is the extortionate cost.

One person fumed: “That’s ridiculous, £12 for a cup with two strawberries and some marshmallows! I would be embarrassed to stand there and ask for that much money.”

Whilst another sarcastically wrote: “£12 for six marshmallows is a hot deal” and a third pointed out: “You can buy a good packet of giant marshmallows for £2.”

Someone else questioned: “Why are people still attending and buying this overpriced s**t?”

Eye-watering prices were simple called “f*****g rude” with yet another raging commentator putting: “£12 for a cup of fruit…..either stall is greedy or the organisers are charging stalls too much….£3.50 not long ago!”

The diplomatic reviewer concluded: “It’s definitely got bigger and they introduced one more food stall… but still you could have done a lot more with the space. Better than last year though, so well done.”

It remains in stark contrast to rival London Christmas market Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, which was rated one of the best in the world.

And when a Daily Star reporter went to investigate further, it was clear why with a combination of delicious food, freezing cold ice attractions, a Virtual Reality rollercoaster, mulled wine and shows.
