Meghan Markle was accepted by senior royals and has misled the public by claiming she wasn't, a royal expert has argued.
The author of the Duchess of Sussex biography Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Andrew Morton, said Camilla Parker Bowles used to communicate with Meghan at nerve-wracking royal events with body language cues and 'secret codes'.
Mr Morton explained the "genuine affection" shown by Camilla to Meghan goes against the Sussexes' claims they were treated poorly by the royal family, The Express reported.
Andrew used the example of Prince Charles's 70th birthday party, where Camila held Meghan's hand and even gave her a kiss goodbye.
Mr Morton said: "This rare royal gesture was a sign of how quickly the American actor had been accepted and treated with genuine affection by the Royal Family.
"On that day, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who had previously advised Kate Middleton on the finer points of protocol during her royal apprenticeship, was, without saying a word, signalling to the watching world that Meghan was now ‘one of us’."

Meghan and Harry dropped bombshells on the royal family earlier this year when they alleged the 'firm' of senior royals had treated them with hostility.
Accusations included neglect and even racism on the part of one senior royal.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the Sussexes did "extreme damage" with the hours-long TV special.
He explained: “A lot of what they said, whilst portraying themselves as victims, never stood up to scrutiny."

Mr Morton also argued Meghan misled the public during that interview, pointing to the British press turning down paparazzi pictures of the duchesses of Sussex and Cornwall at a private lunch together.
And he said Meghan went out for meals even when she was told to "lie low" by family advisers.
Andrew wrote: "She was seen out on numerous occasions: dinner and lunch appointments in Notting Hill, beauty treatments in Kensington and various shopping trips."
