A wanted teenager "repeatedly kicked a police officer in the head" and injured four others during a shopping centre scrap, police have alleged.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested after he reportedly put one brave cop in hospital following the altercation on October 7.

Police were called to the Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley, south east London, after a security guard saw a teenager who was wanted for a previous assault and theft.

Officers tracked down the boy who tried to flee, News Shopper reports.

Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer said the wanted lad turned violent and repeatedly kicked one officer in the head – leaving him needing hospital treatment.

He tweeted: “Six officers from Bromley have been injured whilst carrying out their duties protecting the communities we serve overnight.

"One of my officers was hospitalised following being kicked in the head repeatedly.

“This is totally unacceptable & we will ensure those responsible face justice."

Thanks for the officers poured in from members of the public, with one person writing: “Sending my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery to all.”

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police added: "Three other police officers and a member of security staff were also assaulted.

"The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault of an emergency services worker, assault and theft. He has been bailed until a date in late October."
