Bodies of 'dad and two sons' found after shooting at farmhouse

The bodies of a father and two sons have been found following a shooting at a family farm in Ireland.

A man in his 20s was found with a gunshot wound in a bedroom at the property in Kanturk, Co Cork, at around 1pm on Monday.

Around 40 minutes later, two other bodies, a man in his 20s and another man in his late 50s, were also discovered in an adjoining field following an air search.

The three men all had gunshot wounds. Two rifles and a shotgun were also found at the scene.

According to The Journal, a family of four were living in the property.

The alarm was raised at around 6.30am after a woman, in her 60s, showed up at her neighbour’s home distraught saying there had been a shooting at the property, reports RTE.

Officers initiated their critical firearms incident response, and negotiators attempted to make contact with anyone in the property during the morning, before finding the first body inside a bedroom.

A full investigation has been launched and the state pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau are set to visit both scenes.

The Garda spokesman added: ‘An Garda Siochana is not looking for any other persons in connection with this incident at this time.’
