Armed police have told customers not to leave a pub in Hull and to stay away from the windows.

Approximately 20 customers are trapped inside The Lair on Anlaby Road as "loads" of armed police officers are closing off the surrounding area and roads.

A staff member has confirmed that no staff nor customers are currently allowed to leave the pub after he received a phone call from police.

"Customers went to have a look at what was going on outside the front and police shouted at them, 'Get in, get in. Get away from the windows'," the worker told Hull Live.

"So I've shut the main shutters and closed the blinds and got everybody away from the windows."

He said he also received a call from police, telling him to make sure the customers stayed back from the window.

He said there were around 20 customers in the pub, which had planned to close at 11pm.

Daily Star Online has approached Humberside Police for comment on the ongoing incident.
