Yellowstone season four is currently filming in the US ahead of a return to screens in 2021. Fans are hopeful Kevin Costner will be back again in the latest season as John Dutton following a dramatic end to season three. However, the star has previously been open about what he finds tough about the role.
What does Kevin Costner find difficult about John Dutton role?
Costner has been the lead star of Yellowstone ever since it first began on the Paramount Network.
Playing the leader of the ranch, John Dutton, fans have fallen in love with his powerful performance.
Over the course of the series so far, he has also been a part of some dramatic storylines.
Season three was no different after it ended with him being shot by a mysterious gunman.
Ahead of the fourth season of the show, a lot is unknown about John’s future and whether he makes it out alive.
However, many will be hoping to see Costner back in the role when the show returns.
In the past, the Hollywood star has spoken openly about what it is like to shoot the series.
In particular, he has told publications about what he finds tough about the process.
Speaking to Indie Wire back in 2019, the star revealed how he finds it difficult to not know everything about his character
He explained: “I would like to, but I’m not always privy to it, no.
“Sometimes with [John’s] sons or wife or whatever, that’s been really kept in a creative ball.
“That’s a more vulnerable way to go through life as an actor.”

He then added how this has been different from his past roles as, unlike in films, he keeps coming back to play John.
As a result, there is always more to find out about him as the show continues.
He added: “It hasn’t been an easy adjustment for me. I don’t like it too much.”
This is not the only thing Costner also opened up about finding tough on the show.
He told Good Housekeeping in 2020 about the difficult shooting schedule and how it impacts family life.
He said: “It puts me away from home. I go home every moment I can.”
“But this year, we’re filming exclusively in Montana, which makes going home almost impossible.
“When you deal with two aeroplanes, it’s all-day travel.
“If it’s all-day travel home, then it’s going to be all-day travel back.”
Yellowstone season 4 will air in 2021.
