Queen of the South season five so far has been filled with numerous unexpected plot twists which have caught fans off guard. The USA Network drama has been teasing from the very start what’s to happen in Teresa Mendoza’s (played by Alice Braga) future with the flash-forward scenes. Now, there are rumours circulating of the series being launched into the future with a time jump.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Queen of the South.
Will there be a 4-year time jump in Queen of the South season 5?
The very first scene of Queen of the South was a flash-forward moment which showed Teresa as a queenpin being shot by an unknown sniper.
Every season since has started with a moment which hasn’t aired yet, giving fans a taste for what her future could look like.
These have made viewers even more curious about how the drama’s final series will end, given that it has already shown how the queenpin might die.
But there has been talk of Queen of the South being taken four years into the future in the last ever episode.
Discussing how the season could finish, fans took to Reddit to share their views with one talking about a theory they saw on a Facebook fan page.
They said: “The theory is she [Teresa] is shot in the pilot doesn’t die but goes into a coma for 4 years she wakes up and boom goes right back to her old life.”
This led to another viewer to question if the four-year time jump is true and if it has been confirmed.
Another fan then took to the community forum site to explain this potential ending.
They said: “All we know is there is a time jump of 4 years in the last episode.
“I think it’s written in the description of episode 10 (I haven’t read it, I don’t want anymore spoilers haha), but it looks like Reuben Perez (actor, Boaz’s sicario) has confirmed this info in a Facebook live.
“These 4 years could be just to show them living after the events, but who knows.”
But on looking at the episode 10 description on IMDB, there is no reference to this time jump.
Express.co.uk also hasn’t seen the video where it was reportedly confirmed and neither have there been any interviews from showrunners reiterating this.

So for now at least, it looks like the time jump is a rumour which is making the rounds.
If it does happen though, will Teresa remain at the top of her game as the queenpin or would she have escaped so she could start over again?
Of course, the other theory is that she is dead after being killed by the sniper.
The description for the season five finale does hint that this could be a possibility.
The synopsis for El Finale reads: “Pote, Kelly Anne, and James try to disappear, but they must fend off attacks from Devon Finch and Boaz.”
While there is no talk of her being killed off, there is no mention of Teresa at all in the final episode description.
Could it be that either Devon Finch (Jamie Hector) or Boaz (Joseph Thomas Camposx) killed her and now it’s time for her followers to go on the run?
Queen of the South season 5 is available to watch on USA Network.
