RYAN Giggs was arrested on November 1, 2020, after reports of a "disturbance".
He has since been released on bail pending enquiries.
Why was Ryan Giggs arrested?
Ryan Giggs was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend Kate Greville.
The Sun exclusively reported there had been a "disturbance" in the night on November 1, resulting in police being called to his home in Worsley.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance.
"A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.
“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”
Giggs was spotted leaving Pendleton police station on November 2.
Was Ryan Giggs released?
Police have said that the arrested man is now released on bail pending further enquiries.
Giggs' representatives have said he denies the allegations of assault and is cooperating with the police.
In light of the events, The Football Association of Wales cancelled a Zoom press conference due to take place on November 3.
The press conference would have seen Giggs announce his squad for a trio of upcoming international games.
The Football Association of Wales said: “The squad announcement scheduled for tomorrow will no longer take place and has been postponed.”
Will Ryan Giggs be sacked by Wales?
Giggs became the Wales manager in January 2018 and had signed a four-year contract, meaning he still has just over a year left in the job contractually.
However, Chiefs at The Football Association of Wales were in talks on November 2 during the night regarding the allegations of assault.
As of now no official statements on this have been made, so it's not yet known if he will continue working as the manager.
Their next upcoming game is with USA in Swansea on November 12, so it's likely a statement will have been made by then.
