The show follows several celebrities undergoing a series of gruelling tasks to see if they can pass the tough course and become a special forces soldier. While living in a harsh, hostile environment, candidates are also tested and interviewed to see if they have the physical and mental strength to cope with the toughest of jobs.

Contestants for this year’s celebrity line-up include Alexandra Burke, Ore Oduba, Saira Khan, James Cracknell, Jake Quickenden, Wes Nelson, Vicky Pattison, Kieron Dyer, Aled Davies and Shanaze Reade.

So far, former Atomic Kitten singer and media personality, Kerry Katona, and television presenter, Ulrika Johnson, have withdrawn from the course.

Chief Instructor Ant Middleton along with other staff members (known as the DS), put the 12 celebrities through eight days of interrogations and tasks on a remote island in Scotland.

Situated in the Scottish Hebrides, the Isle of Raasay serves as the filming location for the Channel 4 military training TV show.

Viewers will recognise the rough, secluded landscape where candidates undertake abseiling down the rocky cliff sides and hike long distances while carrying heavy backpacks.

Located between the Isle of Skye and the mainland, visitors can only access this remote location by catching a ferry or a boat.

Just 14 miles in length and three miles in width, the tiny island attracts tourists for having one of the most diverse geological landscapes in the world.

Guests will find small outcrops of Jurassic shales and ironstone beds, with Torridonian sandstone in the south part of the isle while the north has grey-banded Archaean Lewisian gneiss and granulite.

Cycling, walking and driving are the most popular ways to get around Raasay, popular sites include the ruins of Brochel Castle, inscribed stones and abandoned crofting communities.

Those who are after a true hiking experience should tackle the trek to Dùn Caan which is instantly recognisable for its unusual, flat-topped peak.

After reaching 1,453 feet, at the highest point of Dùn Caan, take a walk along Calum’s Road or a coastal trip along the secluded beaches of Inver Bay.

Over the past few decades, population numbers have gradually dwindled, with only 161 people currently calling this remote Scottish island home.

With tourism being the main employment and economic income for Raasay, anyone wanting a night’s stay that’s more comfortable than SAS members, sleep at Raasay House.

This four-star Georgian hotel-style country house has an on-site restaurant, bar, and activity center to keep guests entertained.

But for those who would prefer a more intimate stay, small guesthouses, B&Bs are available to book or if you’re really brave, do wild camping.

A wide range of outdoor sports can also be enjoyed here if you want to reenact your own SAS challenges on the Scottish island, from kayaking in Loch a’ Mhuilinn to rock climbing near Brochel.

Raasay House has electric bikes that can be hired and runs abseiling and gorge water programs where you can swim around Inver Gorge and descend down a nearby waterfall.

If you would like to test out your military skills, daily ferries continue to run to the Isle of Raasay, visit raasay.com for more details.
