Waterloo Road bosses have revealed original cast members Adam Thomas, Angela Griffin and Katie Griffiths will all be returning to the revived BBC show.
The series, which ran from 2006 to 2015 and recently announced its comeback, will be back on screens later this year as fans pick back up with popular characters, including Kim Campbell and Donte and Chloe Charles.
Kim (Angela Griffin) is now running things as Headteacher of Waterloo Road, as fans will also get to see what became of married couple Donte (Adam Thomas) and Chlo (Katie Griffiths).
To celebrate the news, the trio reunited for the first time and revealed they’re counting down the days until they start filming in Greater Manchester in February.
Angela, 45, said: “I feel really honoured to be joining the new series of Waterloo Road. It is exciting to be stepping back into Kim’s shoes and I can’t wait to explore her life, character and how she has evolved since we last met her.”
The former Coronation Street and Cutting It star continued: “The writers have some amazing storylines planned and I’m looking forward to welcoming viewers back to Waterloo Road.”
Meanwhile ex-Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas explained: “I’m so excited to go back to where it all started!”
“Waterloo Road was a huge part of my life and career so to go back 15 years later is a dream come true.”
The 33 year old star went on: “I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity to get back to acting and doing what I love! I can’t wait to see some old faces and some new. I know this series is going to be the best one yet…”
Katie, 32, also spoke about stepping back into her Waterloo Road alter-ego’s shoes.
She said: “I am incredibly excited to be returning to Waterloo Road – loved by all who make and watch it.”
“Chlo was my first professional acting role, and I feel so lucky to be part of the show again. I can't wait to see what stories unfold!”
