The chemistry of the coaches on The Voice will definitely change after Adam Levine is gone. That’s because the show heavily focused on his friendly feud with Blake Shelton.
Will Shelton have a new coach to feud with? John Legend gives his answer of what could happen next season.
Adam Levine and Blake Shelton had a friendly feud with each other on the show
Levine and Shelton became close while working on The Voice mostly because they loved bickering. They took shots at each other any time they could get especially when it was time to persuade new contestants to get on their team. Fans loved watching it and came up with the ship name “Shevine.”
“We are constantly at each other’s throats, and sometimes we really do get mad at each other,” Shelton told The Tennesseean. “We’re those two guys you knew in high school where we have this bond that is unexplainable. It brings out the best and worst in both of us.”
They still had their moments where they let their love for each other shine through. Shelton gave a touching speech at Levine’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. The friends also had more things to say after Levine quit the show.
Levine and Shelton had touching tributes to each other after he quit
The singers left things on good terms when Levine quit the show. Levine dedicated part of his statement to Shelton.
His Instagram caption read, “And, BLAKE F*CKIN’ SHELTON. I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it. Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, Im just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life. Kelly [Clarkson] and John [Legend], take care of the cowboy and I’m sure I’ll be back to say hi very very soon. So much love to you both.”
Shelton still called him an idiot in his parting message. The country singer tweeted, “Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed both of ours lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.”
Legend said he might have to argue with Shelton now
The latest winner is coming back for another season. He talked about Gwen Stefani joining the cast again next season.
“She’ll fit right in,” he told E! News. “We’ll have a lot of fun.” He teased what the dynamic will be like without Levine. Legend might add “arguing with Blake Shelton” to his duties as a coach when he returns.
“[Stefani and Shelton] probably won’t argue as much as he and Adam did…Maybe I’ll have to start arguing with Blake now,” he said.
Stefani and Shelton obviously have chemistry since they have been dating for years now, but it’s not the same like Levine. Fans will have to wait and see if Legend will step up to the plate to keep Shelton’s ego at bay next season.
