The new series of The Handmaid’s Tale looks set to see June (played by Elisabeth Moss) escape Gilead once and for all as she goes on the run with Janine (Madeline Brewer). The pair will end up outside the border of Gilead and in the middle of a war zone as they try to get to Canada. However, their journey won’t be easy as the trailer shows June pulling Janine as an air strike takes place. Will they both survive?
One shot which has caught the attention of fans has shown Moira (Samira Wiley) call out June’s name before her friend turns around with blood on her face.
A plane appears to have crashed into the city behind June and Janine cannot be seen.
Could the plane have taken out Janine but narrowly miss June who is left alone and without her fellow handmaid?
Fans are certainly worried this could happen with many certain everyone who helped June get out of Gilead will die in the process.
One fan posted on Reddit: “By some miracle of God, Moira will find June in the rubble of the airstrike, while Janine will die and her body won’t be found.
“I say this because of the detached, vacant look on June’s face in the trailer – it reminds me of the scene in S3E11 where she kills Winslow.”
Fans agreed with another replying: “Yeah I agree about Janine dying – with all of the hype they set up with her in this second trailer, I do not have high hopes for her future.
“Especially since her becoming a rebel is really one of the only bigger plot points left for her.”
Janine has been reluctant to get involved with June’s plans to fight against Gilead and take down the totalitarian state.
However, the new trailer sees her finally convinced to take on those who took away her children.
Meanwhile June star Elisabeth has teased the focus of the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale will be the power struggle between the handmaid and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd).
“One of the things that we deal with this season is power, and what real power means and who has it,” she said speaking at the 2021 Winter Television Critics Association tour.

“That’s what so much of the book was about and what so much of our show is about.
“Power isn’t always what it looks like. Power can be dangerous and destructive.
“Both June and Lydia are seeking power on their own journeys, but perhaps in very different ways and with different objectives.”
The latest trailer shows Aunt Lydia give the order to find June and have her brought to her, presumably to be tortured.
However, it will take the Gilead forces a while to even get close to June as Aunt Lydia remarks she’s been missing for “19 days”.
Later in the teaser, June can be seen on top of Aunt Lydia pushing down on her neck with a metal rod – will she kill her?
Elisabeth added: “This season we’ve got Lydia in a position where she is just obsessed with June.
“So much of her personal worth is tied up in what June’s doing, and how much damage [June] is wreaking in the world that [Lydia] feels responsible for.”
The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 returns to Hulu on April 28.
