The Good Doctor season four will pick up from the heartbreaking end to the third series, which left fans eager to know what happened next. There were some delays to filming but a new image released by the cast hints it might be back very soon.

Has The Good Doctor season 4 started filming?

Medical drama The Good Doctor is expected to return to ABC later this year for viewers to catch up with the doctors of St Bonaventure Hospital.

ABC has teased the series will be back airing again on Mondays this autumn.

However, so far an official release date has not yet been announced because the show has experienced some delays due to coronavirus COVID-19.

Part of this was due to filming delays caused by a dispute between Sony Pictures TV and the BC Council of Film Unions over testing protocols.

This put the series on hold while the issues were resolved and filming was able to start up.

However, Deadline then reported on August 14 an agreement had been reached, which allowed production to begin.

Now, filming appears to be underway and the new series has been teased by one of the stars Christina Chang.

As fans will know, Chang plays Dr Audrey Lim on the series and has done so since it began.

On August 21, the star posted an image of her in a mask alongside her co-stars Richard Schiff and Will Yun Lee.

The three of them were pictured together on a plane, which left viewers excited production is about to begin.

Alongside the image, Chang wrote: “The doctors are in. First step to getting back to work on @thegooddoctorabc. Hello Canada!”

The latest update seems to reveal the stars have headed to Vancouver in order to prepare to start filming.

This is good news for fans of the show as the series usually films alongside airing.

Therefore, it is likely the series might be able to have a release date by the end of 2020.

When the show does return, the first storyline of the new outing has already been teased by the creators.

According to TV Line, the series opener will feature a storyline focused on coronavirus.

As a series portraying doctors on the front line of medical care, the show is expected to deal with the pandemic in its first two episodes.

Fans can also expect to see plenty of fallout from the brutal death of Dr Neil Melendez (played by Nicholas Gonzalez) at the end of season three.

Other ongoing storylines include Dr Shaun Murphy’s (Freddie Highmore) new relationship with Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) after the pair kissed in the finale.

As well as this, Dr Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) will have to make a decision about whether to put his family life above his career and move closer to them.

The Good Doctor season 4 is expected to be released on ABC soon.
