It was recently confirmed that Oti Mabuse would be joining ITV talent show The Masked Dancer, sparking fears among Strictly Come Dancing fans she could be bowing out of the BBC contest. The dance professional will be taking on a similar role to that of singer Rita Ora on The Masked Singer’s upcoming spin-off show, joining Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall on the judging panel. It comes after it was reported that Oti had also just been signed for the upcoming series of Strictly, along with Giovanni and Anton Du Beke.
Speaking about being Oti’s new role on The Masked Dancer, Giovanni explained that when his time on Strictly does come to an end, he would love to give judging a go.
“I think it would be interesting to be on the other side of the scenes,” Giovanni told OK! Online.
“Obviously I’ve been a judge in dance competitions, we know what we’re talking about, but on a TV show, I’m sure that will be something that will interest me one day.”
“I think that one day when I finish Strictly, which is hopefully not anytime soon, there are a few shows in my mind that I would love to do, but we’ll see,” he continued.
A number of other Strictly favourites will be joining Giovanni, Oti and Anton on the 2021 series including Gorka Marquez and Katya Jones.
Giovanni has been a favourite of the professional dancers on the BBC dance competition since his first series in 2015.
In 2015 the star managed to dance all the way to the final and came second with actress Georgia May Foote.
The 2020 series saw him partnered with television presenter and journalist Ranvir Singh and rumours of a romance between the two have been circulating ever since.
Speaking on a recent episode of Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, Giovanni addressed the gossip surrounding the pair.
Steph McGovern asked him: “Did you enjoy dancing with Ranvir?” to which the 30-year-old choreographer replied: “Loved it, absolutely loved it.
“I think she really, really developed as a dancer but also the confidence just grows very much. So was very pleased with the journey.”
Steph then asked, with a smile: “And you still keep in touch with her?”

The dancer agreed, replying: “100 per cent yes. It’s pointless you know [to not] be in touch after you spend what, 10 hours in the studio together for three months so yeah, definitely keep in touch.”
Steph later touched on the stories the pair are an item, saying: “And there were a few rumours doing the rounds.
“You often see the headlines about a ‘potential romance’ between you but… that’s not true, is it?”
Giovanni didn’t confirm or deny a relationship between the two, however, he commented: “Yeah I mean, there’s always going to be rumours you know, and I always say that if there is rumours, it’s okay because it means that what we’re doing just arrives home because dancing is acting.”
Giovanni and Ranvir just missed out on the 2020 final after facing Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer in the dance-off.
Oti took home the Glitterball trophy for the second year in a row with comedian Bill Bailey.
The year before that she was crowned the winner with former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher.
