Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Chris Ramsey to avoid elimination as huge advantage revealed?

Chris, 33, has been improving week-on-week with his Strictly Come Dancing professional partner Karen Hauer, 37, and managed to win over the judges during last night’s Blackpool special. The comedian has yet to face the dreaded dance off on the BBC dance show and it seems this could be to a huge support system weighing in his favour.

Following last week’s Paso Doble routine, the amateur dancer felt he had a lot to prove to try and gain higher scores from the panel.

The latest instalment of the Saturday night entertainment programme saw him perform an energetic Salsa to a chart-topping hit.

After high appraisal from the judges, the comedian scored a total of 33 out of 40 as both Shirley Ballas, 59, and Bruno Tonioli, 63, scored him a 9.

However, the high scores may have nothing to do the result if he avoids elimination tonight as earlier this week, there was discussion on It Takes Two about why he is so popular.

“Those Newcastle – they’re strong punters up there,” he added, to which Zoe replied: “All over the country I’m meeting Chris fans.”

Will the comedian avoid elimination tonight if those fans in his hometown got behind him after his energetic Salsa?

Once all the remaining contestants performed their routines, Chris and Karen found themselves second bottom of the leaderboard.

Before last night’s Blackpool special, the northern funny man was the favourite to leave the competition this weekend.

Betway bookmakers had him at 4/5 to be eliminated on their latest odds table, with EastEnders actress Emma Barton, 42, behind him at 3/1.

Despite having won over the audience and the judges with his charismatic attitude, the amateur dancer didn’t believe he could win the Glitterball Trophy.

Speaking of his chances ahead of taking to the dance floor earlier this series, Chris said: “It’s when I’ve got to be sexy that I’m going to be knackered down the line.

“The hips worry me, having to look intense on my face without pulling a stupidgrin, that worries me,” he quipped.

“I like smiling so I’m not looking forward to the ones where you’ve got to look really serious and try to look a bit, manly.

“It’s not something that comes easy to me.”
