Ruth Langsford has hit out at an angry This Morning viewers after one accused her of being 'vile' to her husband Eamonn Holmes.
The ITV regular kicked off Friday's show to issue a withering putdown of those who had got in touch to reprimand her.
Ruth hit out: "To the viewer who sent me a message yesterday saying I was vile to my husband – it's banter! "
Making light of the situation, Eamonn teased with his typically dry humour: "That was my mother. She does think you're vile."
Ruth and Eamonn are back hosting This Morning due to it being the school holidays.
Controversially at the start of the year the the duo were replaced by Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond.
The new TV pairing now host the ITV show every Friday in term time.
Despite initial unease from fans Dermot and Alison have now become a fan favourite with their light-hearted take on the show.
Previously talking to Daily Star, Eamonn and Ruth's close friend Rylan Clark-Neal admitted he things the time away from This Morning will allow the couple to branch out into other work opportunities.

The former X Factor star said: "Ruth and Eamonn are my telly mum and dad, they have been since day one.
"They have been my biggest supporters out of the entire industry.
"I have learnt a lot from both of them, they are genuine friends of mine outside of work.
"I would love to see them [do] loads of things, they are brilliant."

The TV regular continued: "They are still doing holidays and stuff on This Morning so it is nice we will still see them on there, but if it frees up their time to do other stuff then I really hope so, as they are really lovely people.
"I love Alison to bits, she has been at This Morning for so many years now that I'm glad she's finally getting something.
"I have co-hosted the show with her before and she is an absolute pleasure."
