The first spin-off of Starz series Power has already set the stage for some scandalous drama after the game-changing twist in the midseason finale. Unfortunately, fans weren’t pleased to learn new episodes won’t start airing until December at the earliest.
The latest episode of Power Book II: Ghost may have sealed Tariq St. Patrick’s (played by Michael Rainey Jr.) downfall after his disastrous mistake.
Forging a new life for himself after killing his father, Ghost (Omari Hardwick), the young drug runner has already started to take over the Stansfield University campus.
Unfortunately, his new partnership with Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) could be disastrous.
Meanwhile, ruthless attorneys Davis Maclean (Method Man) and Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) have already started to conspire against Tariq.
With things reaching a boiling point in episode five, fans were distraught when a new episode of Power’s highly anticipated first spin-off failed to surface this week.
Although Starz have yet to confirm, the season’s delays likely stem from production issues and shutdowns caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Several popular TV shows have been forced to start airing new episodes in irregular increments after networks were forced to cease filming on the back halves of current seasons.
Sadly, Power Book II was no different, and it looks like the spin-off won’t continue for some weeks.
Whilst devoted viewers raged on social media, entertainment blog Cartermatt speculated episode six could hit screens in December.
They said: “We know that there are five episodes back, and because of timing, we know that the show’s probably going to run straight through to the new year.
“Our hope right now is that the series will be back on Sunday, December 6, though that has not been 100% confirmed as of yet.”
Considering the first season has already dropped a huge bombshell – Tariq confessing to his father’s murder on tape – the upcoming hiatus could be painful for some viewers.

Thankfully, all signs are pointing to the series returning before the end of the year, so viewers will only have to remain patient for a few more weeks.
When the news reached fans, the prospect of a delay of an indeterminate length proved too much for some of Power’s audience.
One viewer posted on Twitter: “Power Book 2 not coming back on until until December is str8 bulls**t.”
While another tweeted: “You mean to tell me I waited all day to watch Power Book 2 episode 6 only to find there’s nothing till December smh.”
Thankfully, the second half of Book II’s first season will be well worth the wait, as showrunner Courtney Kemp teased to Entertainment Weekly.
She revealed: “Oh, it gets so much more intense. All of the relationships get much more complicated.
“Tariq has to make some decisions, some familiar faces from Power show back up. It’s intense.”
With the world of Power set to expand in more spin-off series, fans are wondering when the likes of Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) will return to screens, and it could be sooner than later.
