Phillip Schofield, 58, and Holly Willoughby, 40, were joined by the Health Secretary on This Morning to discuss the latest developments with regards to the coronavirus pandemic. With members of the public able to meet outside in groups of six or two households coming together, Matt Hancock MP, 42, explained why the easing of lockdown restrictions could not be accelerated despite improving numbers. And when the interview drew to a close, Schofield and Willoughby were keen to ask the politician about his “red room” – the usual place he conducts his interviews from.

With news of a TV show being made about the current politicians inside Number 10, Hancock said he was surprised to find himself settling down on a Friday night to watch his own interviews on Gogglebox.

With reference to the latest episode of Gogglebox, Willoughby said: “There was quite a reaction to your red room, by the way. We love peeking into people’s houses and seeing what’s going on.

“And lots of people were saying, ‘That’s quite a brave choice of paint,'” the mother-of-three continued.

“I love my office, I love it, I love it,” Hancock replied, to which Willoughby remarked: “But it’s quite an angry red, isn’t it?”

Hancock refuted this claim as he hit back: “No, no. It’s a boudoir. It’s soothing.”

“It’s a boudoir?” Schofield exclaimed in disbelief, with the politician and hosts bursting into laughter over the admission.

“What have you just said?” the presenter asked as he blushed at the comment but Hancock was quick to clear up any confusion.

“It’s just me and my paperwork,” he remarked and Schofield added: “Well, we’ll look forward to your next zoom call from your boudoir.”
