Starz’s highly-anticipated historical drama Outlander will soon be making its big return to screens for season six. After the network released some first-look images featuring newcomer Henri-Christian, fans have predicted Brianna (played by Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) could join him on the run.
Outlander is the on-screen adaptation of a series of best-selling novels written by Diana Gabaldon.
Fans who have read the books will know, season six is set to be based on her sixth volume – titled A Breathe of Snow and Ashes.
Ahead of its release, the series released some exciting new images, which confirmed Brianna and Roger’s return.
The photo’s also introduced a new character Henri-Christian and fans who have read the books, have come up with an interesting theory.
Taking to Reddit, the viewer responded to a post asking how they thought season six would end.
They wrote: ”Wasn‘t there a promo picture with a wet Roger holding a baby near a river? Or something? Maybe this really could be the Henri-Christian storyline.”
That’s exactly one of the images the series released on their Instagram page.
Roger emerges from the water soaking wet and in his arm was a baby wrapped in a blanket.
Readers will be aware of the heartbreaking storyline Outlander is about to explore – which will highlight the harmful stigmas surrounding disabilities.
Henri-Christian was the son of Fergus (César Domboy) and Marsali (Lauren Lyle) – he was a key character in the recent three novels.
Season five ended with Marsali pregnant with her son, however, the books reveal the boy was the couple’s fourth child and was born with dwarfism.
Despite his condition, Marsali was fiercely protective and loved him – but the times they were in threatened his existence.
As the series is set in the late 1700s his disability was a huge problem for the people at Fraser’s Ridge and they saw it as his parent’s punishment for their sin.
As A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues, the novel discloses the bullying Henri-Christian experiences as a baby.
Some local children who make fun of him attempted to drown him by putting him in a basket and punching it out into open waters.
However, Roger came to the rescue by rushing into the water and saving the baby, which is why he was soaking wet in the first-look images.
The season finale saw Roger and his time-travelling wife Brianna attempt to return to the future with their child for medical reasons.
However, the family were mysteriously returned back to their starting point for reasons unknown.
Perhaps season six could see the family take in Henri-Christian and go on the run with the boy.
Thankfully for fans, production for the upcoming instalment of the series has already wrapped up and network bosses have confirmed the seventh season.
Outlander season 6 will premiere in early 2022 on Starz and Amazon Prime Video.
