The second half of Lucifer season five has only just been released on Netflix, but fans are already clamouring for the story to continue. With the official premiere date still unclear, actor DB Woodside revealed on Twitter that he wants to see the fantasy drama return before the end of the year.
Amenadiel star DB Woodside has suggested this year could see the release of two instalments of Netflix’s hit series, Lucifer.
Season five came to an end with the second lot of eight episodes released to streamers at the end of May after several months of waiting.
However, following Netflix’s surprise renewal of the show last year, filming for season six has already come to an end.
This means ‘Lucifans’ may not be waiting for quite so long to see the series pick up where the jaw-dropping season five cliffhanger left off.
Now most fans have had the chance to consume all eight new episodes of Lucifer, the hiatus between seasons has officially begun.
Thankfully, DB Woodside is fully behind fans’ hopes for a swift release for the final instalment after the near year-long wait for season 5b.
On Tuesday, the fan site Netflix life asked fans on Twitter: “Do you want to see #LuciferSeason6 this year?”
Surprisingly, several fans voiced their concerns for a quicker turnaround, as this would mean the show would officially be coming to an end in 2021.
On the other hand, Woodside was eager for the series to deliver its highly anticipated, ten episode grand finale as soon as possible.
He responded: “Yes. So everyone can see the killer performances that @Aimee_Garcia & @RachaelEHarris give in the episode that I directed.”
In addition to raising hopes for an earlier release, the star also teased a major showcase for Ella Lopez (Garcia) and Dr Linda Martin (Harris) in the coming season.
Not only will Woodside be reprising his iconic role as the angel Amenadiel, he’ll also be taking over directing duties for the first time for the eighth episode of the upcoming final run.

The star will be making his television directing debut with ‘Save the Devil, Save the World’, which seems to be a pivotal chapter in Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) final journey.
As well as hyping up his first foray behind the camera, and some stellar performances from his co-stars, Woodside may have given the first indication as to when season six will finally be released.
Although the actor doesn’t have any sway over when Netflix will eventually decide to drop the next ten episodes, his comments suggest they could be closer to making a decision.
With post-production on the final season still underway, there’s a slight chance Lucifer will return at some point over the Christmas holidays.
One conflicted fan replied to the star: “Yes, cause I can’t wait another year. Although I don’t want this show to end.
“I’m gonna miss you guys so much. And I’m definitely looking forward to this episode now.”
Fans are certainly thrilled to see how DB Woodside fares on his first time taking on double duties in front and behind the camera in the third to last episode of season six.
While it’s clear some Lucifer enthusiasts don’t ever want the show to end, there’s a strong possibility they’ll be saying goodbye to the crime-solving devil much sooner than expected.
Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
