Kate Garraway red-faced and embarrassed as phone alarm goes off twice on air

Kate Garraway has left her Good Morning Britain co-star Ben Shephard and viewers in hysterics after her phone alarm went off twice live on air.

The 54 year old, who recently said she fell ill with a kidney infection after filming her Walking With episode, was left confused when her phone started loudly chiming during a discussion on COP26 on Friday 12 November.

She immediately turned it off before continuing on with the conversation, but just 10 minutes later her phone's alarm went off for a second time.

"Oh for goodness sake, I'm really sorry. What the hell is going on?" she exclaimed as her voice got higher in pitch.

Laughing, her co-presenter Ben Shephard, 46, said: "If there's someone technologically capable of turning Kate's phone off, that would be very helpful."

Kate then asked: "Shall we just remove it from the studio? How many alarms have I set?" as Ben suggested they hand over the phone to their floor manager Katie.

TV personality Kate, who recently opened up on the help she received from her neighbours, continued: "I'm blaming the kids! There was another one at 6:45am."

Joking, Ben shouted: "You really should be somewhere Kate Garraway!" as she replied: "They're all off now. They're all off now. They're all off now. I'm so embarrassed."

Ben then joked once more: "That could be our producer calling to say, 'That's enough of this one, let's move on to the next,'" as Kate said: "That's the way they now get us to move on."

Later, Ben poked fun at Kate by claiming her phone always goes off in the studio, to which she replied: "I'm slightly worried because Darcey [Kate's daughter] has the same colour phone and it could be her alarm for school, so now she could have overslept."

After calling for viewers to share their own experiences where their phone may have gone off at inappropriate times, replies started flooding in on Twitter.

"Reminds me of the time I was lying in the doctors room having a very embarrassing examination when my phone started blaring out Supermassive Black Hole by Muse" one person wrote with a woman facepalming emoji.

Another said: "@kategarraway OMG, my Sons phone alarm randomly went off at 3.17am and 4.17am this morning too ….. strange …."
