From their strange dating rules to their modest dress code, there’s no doubt the Duggars are an odd bunch compared to many others — and that’s exactly why they’ve been on reality TV for over a decade, too. Today, we’re still watching the older Duggar kids live out their lives via TLC’s Counting On, but there is one controversial Duggar who’s no longer featured on the program. And that’s Jill.
TLC won’t feature Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, on the show due to Derick’s controversial Twitter activity of the past. But she still has a strong social media following thanks to her Instagram and Dillard Family blog. Recently, she posted some marriage and sex advice for her followers, too — and it included some interesting recommendations.
The Duggars live by many guidelines when it comes to marriage and sex
The Duggars have plenty of rules they follow while they’re courting to ensure purity before marriage. They don’t hold hands with or frontal hug their significant others, and Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are added into any text conversations they have with their potential future spouses. The rules and regulations don’t stop once the Duggars get married, either. While they can finally hug and kiss their spouses, they also believe that a healthy marriage includes lots of intimacy to make up for lost time.
Michelle Duggar has spoken before about the importance of a woman meeting her man’s needs, too. “Be available. Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has, and you always need to be available when he calls,” she said during an interview with Today. Not only that, but Michelle and Jim Bob also abide by the rule that after giving birth, they waited 80 days to have sex if they had a baby girl, and 40 days if they had a boy. “When you’ve missed it for seven days, you look forward to it even more,” Michelle added.
Jill just posted her marriage advice on her family blog
It’s not just Michelle who has marriage and love advice for everyone. Jill Duggar recently shared what she’s learned while being Derick’s spouse — and a lot of it sounds familiar. As Jill wrote on her blog, “Have sex often! … Let your spouse know that you’re always available. Guard against fulfilling sexual desires alone. Be open with your spouse about your desires and change things up to keep it exciting!” She also recommended all married couples spend 15 to 20 minutes of uninterrupted time to talk daily, and she added that looking nice and smelling good for your husband is also important.
Jill also added some other controversial advice that many of her readers might take issue with. “Look for ways to encourage your hubby, serve him and meet his needs,” she wrote. Jill also added that wives should be memorable to their husbands, and when a husband leaves the home, his wife should be jumping for joy upon his return. She recommends wives “run to him (like you may have done when you were first dating). And if the kids are gone, have fun with it! Be crazy with your hubby!”
Many fans are unhappy with what Jill just wrote

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and thanks to @derickdillard @cldilla and @sierrajodominguez for everything!! . Sierra watched our kiddos while Derick and I went on a little hike/lunch date earlier to Lincoln Lake…and she made us some delicious chocolate covered strawberries!! …idk how she does it!! . When we got home, Derick had planned with “Mima” (my MIL) & she had dinner and cake waiting for us! . Such a sweet, fun, lovely day! ?❤️?
Plenty of Jill’s fans love her advice and said as much on her Instagram. Unfortunately, many others find her recommendations tone deaf and offputting, especially when it comes to what she thinks couples should do with their sex lives.
“I believe your advice is well intended but it does not work in most marriages. It takes TWO to make a thing go right,” one of her followers commented. And another commented on Jill’s sex advice with, “It seems very unhealthy to me that some women are taught that sex is about a mans needs. Women love sex too, women have fantasies and desires just as much as men. Are they taught about how to please their wife sexually? I’m guessing no.”
