Jen Shah is in a major legal predicament as The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star has been charged with fraud. Following her indictment over her involvement in a telemarketing scheme, the reality TV personality is reportedly still filming the Bravo show. However, her future on the franchise might not be certain according to a source close to production.
Bravo plans to air all the legal drama
The Bravo world was shaken when news broke that Shah had been arrested. As production for RHOSLC Season 2 was underway fans questioned if there were cameras filming when Shah was apprehended. It has been confirmed that the cast was shooting a scene ahead of a planned trip to Colorado.
“They’re filming today because the ladies are going to [Colorado] on a cast trip,” an insider told Two Judgey Girls, which was verified by Variety. “All [of a] sudden, Jen had to leave filming quickly because of an emergency with her husband. [Five] minutes later swat and the feds were there looking for her. They believe she was tipped off but obviously caught up with her just after that.”
Kate Aurthur from Variety said that “cameras were rolling” as “federal law enforcement swarmed production.” However, “the source wasn’t sure whether law enforcement had forced them to stop filming.”
A new source told Us Weekly that “production sees this as a great storyline. One that everyone will want to see unfold.” The insider also said that producers would “use as much footage as they can that they’re legally allowed to use.”
Is Jen Shah quitting?
Shah is expected to continue filming the rest of RHOSLC Season 2 but a new source is saying that Bravo might be cutting ties with her.
“There’s a good chance Bravo won’t ask Jen back,” a source told Life & Style, according to their latest print issue. “Scamming the elderly out of their hard-earned money is as low as you can get.”
Andy Cohen has not expressed too much about the whole ordeal involving the reality star. However, on his Sirius XM show, he did talk about the situation as it took over social media.
“I’m waiting to see how it plays out,” Cohen said on Radio Andy. “I have nothing to add to what we already know. Other than that, I certainly, hope, and pray that none of it is true.”
Is Jen Shah going to jail?
Shah was only arrested to get indicted and advise her of the charges she was being accused of. Her court trial is set to start in October. In addition, if Shah and her assistant Stuart Smith are found guilty of the accusations, they would spend many years in jail.
They “are each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing through which they victimized 10 or more persons over the age of 55, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years,” the press release statement read.
Bravo has yet to comment on the situation and when they would plan to air RHOSLC Season 2.
