James Mays Amazon Prime show renewed after axing of co-star Jeremy Clarkson

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed it has renewed James May's travel show James May: Our Man In… for a third series.

The series will see The Grand Tour presenter head to India for his adventures, following trips to Japan and Italy in seasons one and two respectively.

The news comes in the wake of 60-year old James distancing himself from recent comments made by co-host and pal Jeremy Clarkson about Meghan Markle in his column in The Sun.

In remarks that have since been removed, former Top Gear host Clarkson said he "hates" the Duchess of Sussex and that she should be made to "parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain".

May, however, told BBC Radio 4 in response: "I think it sounds a little bit too creepy, but I’m also very much in favour of free speech and allowing the haters to hate so we can see what they have to say."

Fans of May reacted with glee to the news on Reddit, meanwhile, with one commenting: "I really liked both Italy and Japan. Absolute pleasure to watch, he just can make ANYTHING interesting. Happy for the renewal. Good stuff."

Another wrote: "Great news! My wife and I loved the first two seasons. As well as his Oh Cook! series."

A third added: "Can't wait, I'd watch anything James is in. Even that show where he rebuilds his old school lawnmower is interesting, anyone else I'd have tuned out."

And a fourth said: "I loved the Japan series and the Italy series was great to watch too. I can't wait to see what crazy hijinks we will see in India.

Discussing Clarkson's remarks further, May added: "To be brutally honest I didn’t read the thing because I was away – is that a terrible thing to say?

"Somebody pointed out to me he said something like, ‘All people my age think the same way.’

"Well I’d like to go on the record and I don’t – and I’m only a couple of years younger than him."
