James Corden leaves A League of Their Own as he’s replaced by Romesh Ranganathan

Romesh Ranganathan is set to be the new host of A League of Their Own.

The comic will be in the hot seat full-time for the Sky One show’s 16th series.

Bosses have drafted him in to replace James Corden, who has left due to work commitments in the US.

And Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff will be back as team captains.

Romesh, who has been a panelist on the show since 2018, can’t wait to get started.

He said: “I’m over the moon to be taking over the hosting duties and looking forward to being back in the studio with Jamie, Freddie, our guests and the live audience.

“I’m truly honoured to be the new host of such a successful show. I know Jamie and Freddie are delighted because they often talk about what a hero I am to both of them."

Guests on the new series will include footie ace Jamie Vardy, Olympian Denise Lewis and pundit Micah Richards.

Filming kicks off next month and the series will air on Sky One and streaming service NOW in August.

James, who has his own chat show on US telly, is likely to return to A League of Their Own in the future.

The star was part of the team who created the show when it first aired in 2010.

Team captain and close pal Jamie said: “The beautiful thing with A League of Their Own is that people don’t leave it… they just go away for a while to do other projects. I still speak to James a lot and he loves the show. So I am sure he will come back.

“The show is successful and he always says, ‘You never leave a hit’. He’s hoping to come back at some point.”

Freddie added: “James was part of the show when it started and it’s his show. He talks about it with so much affection and love.”
