THE world of Hip Hop is mourning the death of a legend, Chucky Thompson.
One superstar singer who remembers him well and is shocked and his passing is Mary J Blige.
How did Mary J Blige and Chucky Thompson know each other?
Mary and the late Chucky knew each other after he worked with her on several of her hit songs.
In fact, before his death, they were due to work together again.
The pair worked together on many of Mary's big hits and albums which included her 1994 LP My Life, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
Over the years they collaborated over six times, which also includes her 1995 hit You Bring Me Joy from My Life.
What has Mary said about Chucky's death?
Taking to Instagram after the sad news was revealed, Mary shared a pictureof her late friend and wrote: "Damn! I just spoke to this man last month! We were discussing our plans to work together again. Chucky and I was and will always be a musical match made in heaven.
"He knew everything I was feeling personally and when we worked on the “My Life” and “Mary” albums. He was an angel sent to help me weather my storm.
"Now my brother and my friend returned to where all angels and beautiful people like him come from. RIP to one of the best who’s ever done it.
"This is soooo sad. Too many people leaving too soon."
What was Chucky Thompson's cause of death?
Chucky died on August 9, 2021, although his cause of death is yet to be revealed.
His publicist told Tamar Juda told Billboard: ""It is with a very heavy heart that I can confirm the passing of Chucky Thompson.
"To anyone in his orbit, you know how generous he was with his energy, creativity and love. Both the music industry and the world has lost a titan."
