Helen Skelton was caught on mic making a cheeky quip at her dance partner Gorka Marquez’s performance during the couple’s dance in Blackpool last Saturday.
The presenter, 39, and Gorka, 32, scored an impressive 39 points with their Quickstep to Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse classic Valerie and are currently one of the favourites to win after never having made a dance-off during their whole time on the competition.
Strictly released a behind-the-scenes video which showed what was going on on the dancers’ microphones as they performed on the Blackpool show on Saturday 19 November.
In their routine, Helen played the character of a woman out on the town with friends and when the music kicked in, she could be seen standing with female backing dancers, shooting a look at Gorka and quipping: "Ooo, he wishes!" before launching into the performance.
The couple received a near perfect score for their routine, with only the notoriously strict Craig Revel-Horwood giving them a score of nine rather than ten.
Helen recently opened up on how special it was to perform in Blackpool for an episode of the BBC dance show, with the presenter sharing how it’s the town she would holiday in with parents while growing up.
Speaking to OK!, Helen said: “As I’m from the north west, I spent my childhood October holidays at Blackpool illuminations, going to the penny slots and playing on the Donkey Derby.
“I did [Strictly] for my family and Blackpool is a massive thing for them. Yes, it’s a huge privilege for our ballroom dancing and what that means, but actually it was a nice weekend for my family.”
Helen and Gorka are now one of the remaining seven couples in this year's competition, after Tyler West and dance partner Diane Buswell left last week following a dance-off against Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu.
Reflecting on his time on the show, radio presenter Tyler said: “I’m more than a two-step now! When you watch the show at home, you wonder what it must be like to dance on it, it’s everything and more, it’s changed my life.
“This girl here has changed my life, for sure. To think I was some shy kid who never used to talk to anyone, to dancing in front of millions, I can’t put it into words."
Tyler went on: "It’s my mum’s favourite show, I bought her to Blackpool, my nan, bless her, was always watching over me on this journey. But, more importantly, this show has changed my life in the sense it’s given me confidence, a new-found family, every dancer, everyone in hair and make-up, costume.
“The judges, it’s been amazing to dance in front of you every week, I genuinely mean that.”
The remaining couples will take to the dancefloor next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday November 26 at 7.15pm, with the results show on Sunday November 27 at 6pm on BBC One.
