Meghan Markle has a few famous friends since she was an actress before marrying Prince Harry. Now several actresses have portrayed her to tell their love story.
Tiffany Smith is the latest to do so in Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal. Has she ever met Markle in real life? Here is everything you need to know.
Tiffany Smith replaced Parisa Fitz-Henley to play Meghan Markle
Lifetime’s sequel, Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal had a casting change with Tiffany Smith playing Meghan Markle instead of Parisa Fitz-Henley. The new movie follows the royal couple getting married and Markle getting pregnant with their first child.
Smith previously was a commentator on Movie Trivia Schmoedown. She also was a co-host on Geeking Out. She has since moved on to acting.
The actress has had small roles in the shows Con Man, Jane the Virgin, Supernatural and more. She recently has been getting mistaken for Markle when the royal started dating Prince Harry.
Smith has gone to Kensington Palace and was mistaken for Meghan Markle
The actress has made a trip across the pond. While there, she made it to Kensington Palace where she had an interesting interaction with a stranger.
“The funniest one was I was training for a half-marathon while in London for work,” she told Vulture. “It was before Meghan and Harry got married, and I was wearing a Dodgers baseball hat and colorful leggings — very California. I ran in front of Kensington Palace and figured someone should take my photo, since I had a cool job abroad and was training for this big thing. I stopped someone, he took the photo, and while walking away he said, ‘Sorry miss, but are you Meghan Markle?’”
Smith hasn’t met Markle yet
The actress was mistaken for Markle before playing her, but did they ever cross paths? Smith revealed that they haven’t met.
“We didn’t,” Smith said. “I was doing a lot of presenting at the time when she was on Suits, and I only started seriously focusing on acting three or four years ago. She wasn’t going out to the same auditions as I was with her network role. I did have friends who covered Suits and went to the set a lot, and they would text me things like, ‘This actress looks a lot like you!’”
Although the two never met, Smith did reveal what she would ask Markle if she could. “There’s a scene in [the first movie] where a little girl goes up to her and says she thought she would never see someone who was like her become a princess,” Smith told Yahoo. “That’s one of the biggest things that stuck out to me. So I would thank her for being such a great, incredible role model for women, but also for multi-racial or mixed girls. I grew up experiencing that world, and it’s awesome to see her get to do the things she’s done and be so joyful and positive. And I’d ask her if she has any advice for having a strong career and getting what you’re striving for.”
Sadly, the look a likes haven’t met because they were on different career paths in the past. Now Smith has played Markle to tell another part of her story.
