Emmerdale John Bowe taken to hospital after falling off ladder in freak accident

Emmerdale star John Bowe was rushed to hospital after falling off a ladder and suffering a painful shoulder injury.

The 70-year-old actor shared the scary news with fans on Twitter, posting a picture of a nasty looking wound on his forehead.

John, who starred as Lawrence White in the ITV soap, told his 24.1k followers: "I've had an accident. I've broken my shoulder but more intriguing is the "Star of David" I've acquired on my forehead. Fear not. I shall survive. 2020. What a year."

Coronation Street legend Charlie Lawson was shocked at the gruesome news and asked the television star how it had happened.

John replied to him saying: "Never work at the top of a ladder without assistance."

He then shared a follow up message with his fans to reassure them that he was on the mend.

John penned: "Thank you so much for all your kind messages.

"They ease the pain. (Not really!) And I must thank the ambulance crew who rescued me and took me to Harrogate Hospital, where Larissa the nurse and Doctor Sarah looked after me. God bless the NHS. JBx."

Earlier this year John claimed that he "nearly died" following his battle with the deadly coronavirus.

He tweeted: "I have nearly died twice in my life. Once just last week."

John added: "The gauze between life and death is extremely thin and oh so easy to pass through."

He revealed he was suffering from Covid-19 symptoms in March.

The actor tweeted: "#coronavirus #selfisolation Most poorly I've been today. Will this headache never stop? Intermittent dry cough like clearing some froth. Very sore throat. Shortness of breath. Very tired. Chest feels like there's smouldering fire."

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
