Emmerdale fans furious as evil Meena gets away with murder after Leannas death ruled as accident

Emmerdale fans were left furious on Monday night as Meena Jutla got away with murder after Leanna Cavanagh's death was ruled as "accidental" by police.

Last week, Meena (Paige Sandhu) and Leanna (Mimi Slinger) shared a heated exchange before the nurse grabbed her by the shirt and hauled her off a bridge to fall to her death.

On Monday's episode, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) struggled to come to terms with his daughter's death and searched for answers in the village.

Yet the doctor was left further devastated when the police revealed that Leanna's death had been ruled as "accidental" and dropped off her personal items.

An officer explained: "The post-mortem has found that Leanna’s death was caused by an accidental fall, I really am very sorry."

And later in the episode, Liam's wife Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) bumped into Meena as she unknowingly told the murderer details about the investigation.

Leyla said: "Police have been…. done the autopsy thing, was an accident."

Pretending to be concerned, Meena replied: "How's poor Liam?"

To which Leyla added: "It's hard to say. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, I don't know how to feel about it."

As Leyla walked away, Meena smiled and chillingly replied: "I do…"

Viewers were left furious at Meena as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts and complain she had "got away with murder".

One person said: "There’s been loads of killers in soap history but I can’t recall one as pure evil as Meena. I don’t want to watch but I can’t stop watching. #emmerdale."

A different viewer put: "Accidental fall…so Meena’s going to get away with murder…#emmerdale."

While another soap watcher commented: "Omg they’re ruling it an accident #Emmerdale," followed by shocked emojis.

It comes as Liam star Jonny McPherson revealed that he used past personal grief to film emotional scenes for the ITV soap.

The 39 year old actor's character Liam has been left devastated after his onscreen daughter Leanna was brutally murdered in a shocking storyline that aired last week.

In upcoming scenes, soap watchers will see Liam distraught after losing his daughter and in new spoiler photos, he can be seen destroying a memorial with flowers left at the scene of her death.

Talking about the heartbreaking storyline, Jonny revealed on Monday's Loose Women that he wanted to do the emotional scenes "justice" and while he could not relate to losing a child, he drew on the "emotional turmoil" of his father's sudden death 12 years ago.

He said: "I don’t have children myself so it was quite important to me to try and do it justice. I think so many people out there who watch the show will have lost a child, so I felt out of respect to them more than anything else you want to ensure that you are meeting that level of grief, that emotional truth if you like.

"The closest I could get to really is my dad died about 12 years ago, and he died quite suddenly in intensive care, and I remember I had to see him when he was dead and it was quite a shock.

"I just remember the intensity of the grief was quite sort of animalistic, I just completely lost control of my brain and there was lots of wailing going on.

"I was holding his hand against my head and I thought, if you’re going to draw on anything, it's going to be that level of emotional turmoil. But hopefully it is somewhere close to that."
