It hasn’t been the easiest time of late for Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Callum Halfway (Tony Clay) in EastEnders.
While Ben was revealed to still be haunted by memories of his late former boyfriend Paul Coker, he also appears to have hit upon the fact that Halfway is gay – and keeping it a secret from Whitney.
Initially Ben realised after an unexpected moment of sexual tension between the pair of them, as Halfway confronted Ben over letting him handle stolen goods – and he furiously denied it.
However Halfway saw a different side to Ben when he revealed how he still feels about his soulmate – suggesting perhaps the pair could grow closer after all.
But could Ben and Halfway get together? Here’s what we know…
Do Ben Mitchell and Halfway get together in EastEnders?
At the moment it’s not been confirmed whether Ben and Halfway might take things further.
However the chemistry between the pair has been hard to miss, even if Halfway is currently in a relationship with Whitney (Shona McGarty).
And the pair hinted to metro.co.uk at the recent British Soap Awards that the story could go in any number of directions.
‘I think at this point we’re just exploring where it goes,’ Max Bowden said.
‘There’s so much between the two of them that there’s never going to be a set in stone dynamic between them.
‘I think people are just going to have to stay tuned in to see where this friendship goes.’
‘The exploration of the friendship and building that common ground, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll go into a relationship, we don’t know yet,’ Tony Clay added. ‘I think it’s a good dynamic to have.’
However, they’re not quite ready to commit to a ‘ship name’ yet, just in case – saying that one’s down to the folks on Twitter.
So we’ll just have to keep watching to find out what happens…
EastEnders airs weeknights on Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
