For weeks, Coronation Street resident Abi Franklin (played by Sally Carman) has been desperate to get justice for the death of her son Seb (Harry Visinoni). Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) have both taken to the stand to deliver witness statements about the night of Seb’s attack. Friday night’s episode will reveal the verdict of Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and Kelly Neelan’s (Millie Gibson) trial. However, it seems Abi might not get the news she was hoping for as actress Sally has teased there is more drama to come.
If Corey and Kelly are found not guilty of killing Seb, Abi will be on the warpath and determined to deliver her own justice.
The actress has warned things won’t just come to a head after the verdict for Corey and Kelly is delivered but more dramatic scenes, which will rival the unforgettable 2010 tram crash.
Speaking at the National Television Awards, she warned: “There’s a lot of beans coming up, some beans that could be something you’ve never seen before from Coronation Street, that could rival the tram crash.
“It’s amazing you’re going to have your socks blown off and your hair blown off.”
Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod added to the Daily Star: “We have tried to look at the last 12 months and the limited way soaps have been forced to tell stories and we tried to subvert that.
“We’re back – it’s going to be big, the classic births, deaths and marriages. it’s going to be cinematic, it’s going to be huge.”
Pressed on whether beloved characters could die, Iain teased: “I mean, yes…”
It’s not known who exactly which character will die but if Abi wants to take revenge, she could take things too far.
Could Abi kill teen Kelly or Corey? Or could she put her partner Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) son Jack in danger?
If Abi relapsed due to the pain of losing Seb, Jack could find her drugs lying around and make a devastating decision.
Fans could even expect to see these dramatic scenes as early as Christmas as the ITV soap is known for it’s gripping festive storylines.
Unfortunately for Kelly, the latest soap spoilers suggest she will be found guilty as her solicitor Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) is loaded with guilt.
Kelly’s inmate Mia has also been teased suggesting she will end up behind bars for a while.
Official spoilers reveal Imran tells Toyah (Georgia Taylor) he’s hired a psychologist for Kelly using the last of the money from the anonymous donor and making up the shortfall himself.
Meanwhile, encouraged by fellow inmate Mia, Kelly reluctantly joins the support group.
Coronation Street scooped the award for Best Serial Drama at the National Television Awards on Thursday night.
Speaking of the win, Sally said: “Oh my goodness, thank you so so much for voting for us, it means everything it really, really does.
“The past year has been so difficult with lockdown as you all know, and we’ve worked so hard in every department. The actors, the crew, the make-up department, everyone in production. It’s a real team effort on Coronation Street.”
She added: “On behalf of everyone at Coronation Street, thank you so much, this means everything. Thank you!”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm.
