Billy Mayhew (played by Daniel Brocklebank) may finally decide to turn his back on both Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) in Coronation Street when he realises what the undertaker is really capable of. The archdeacon is engaged to be married but may decide it’s time to reflect on his life with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and leave his complicated love life behind him.
In upcoming scenes of the ITV soap, Todd’s ruthless actions backfire and result in Billy resigning from his role as archdeacon.
The undertaker is being blackmailed by Will (Ben Hackett) for the devious way he forced Paul out of the picture.
Last week, he decided to steal an expensive heat pump that his partner purchased for the halfway house.
However, Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael George) will tell Billy his insurance won’t payout for the item.

Billy fears he’s not up to the task of his high-pressure role and decides to resign.
The bishop is stunned by Billy’s decision but admits it may be the best thing going forward.

Will Todd finally experience guilt over his actions and come to clean to Billy?
If so, Billy may decide that he can’t face being in Weatherfield anymore and wants a clean break away from both Todd and Paul.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Daniel opened up on why Todd and Billy are suited to each other.
He said: “Todd’s and Billy’s relationship has always felt very real.”
“It was always very hot and passionate and fun, and I think those elements bring those two characters together brilliantly,” Daniel continued.

“I never really felt that Billy and Paul were that well suited.
“It felt like quite a parental relationship, Billy always seems to be trying to fix Paul, whereas Todd and Billy fix each other, they balance each other’s bits out.”
The actor was asked whether fans are supporting the couple despite Todd’s devious actions.
“Yes there definitely are people out there that are still rooting for Todd,” he replied.
“There’s also people saying, ‘Don’t bother with either of them, for Christ’s sake, there are enough gays in Manchester, why does it have to be those two?’

“There are definitely people that are pro-Paul people, pro-Todd and people who want me to just lay off all the boys of Weatherfield please for five minutes.”
In recent scenes, Billy proposed to Todd after initially being hesitant when the undertaker asked for his hand in marriage.
However, if Todd comes clean about the heat pump, Billy may call off the engagement.
Paul is in the frame for the robbery but he may seize the opportunity for a proposal of his own if Todd is exposed.
Will Billy decide he needs to leave Weatherfield with Summer and reject both Todd and Paul’s pleas to reunite?
