Beth Rigby returns to Sky News after being suspended for Covid rule break

Sky News' Political Editor Beth Rigby has returned to the channel after three months suspension.

The no-nonsense journalist was back to grilling the government after her time away from the show.

Beth was taken off air of three months last year after being snapped breaking lockdown rules to celebrate Kay Burley's 60th birthday.

Reports at the time claimed that a 'group of ten' including Beth attended Kay's party at private members' club Century Club in Soho.

Beth apologised for breaching Tier 2 restrictions with a source at the time saying "she's no leg to strand on".

Despite her controversial actions, Sky viewers were pleased to see her return.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Welcome back to Sky News Beth."

Another added: "Welcome back @BethRigby.

"We love seeing your smiling face with your red lipstick and must be honest, we really missed your professional reporting that was done with a huge amount of research."

A third chimed in: "So glad you're back."

"Hey, nice to see you back. Carry on doing a great job holding the government to account, don't back down an inch," a fourth said.

Meanwhile, Kay herself was suspended for six months.

In an official comment, Kay said: "I have today agreed with Sky News to step back from my broadcasting role for a period of reflection.

It’s clear to me that we are all in the fight against cover 19 and that we all have a day to stick firmly by the rules.

"It doesn’t matter that I thought I was cover-compliant on a recent social event. The fact is I was wrong, I made a big mistake, and I am sorry.

"I was one of the founding presenters on Sky News. No one is prouder of our channel’s reputation, the professionals on our team, and the impact we make.
