BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker mocked by Sally Nugent as he leaves the sofa on air

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent seemed to shut down her co-host Dan Walker quite rapidly on Wednesday, after he bravely asked her whether she had a nice few minutes "without me".

Due to the pandemic, interviews on the morning programme have been taking place via video link, but on Wednesday Sally was joined in the studio by Shadow Education Secretary Kate Green.

However, because of social distancing Dan had to remove himself from the red sofa.

On his return, the presenter asked Sally: "Did you have a nice 15 minutes without me?"

Sally quipped: "Did you notice he wasn't here? Did anyone? No?"

Shaking his head, Dan replied: "At least one person, surely."

Sally then went on to explain the reason for Dan's absence to viewers at home.

She said: "Dan's been on the other side of the studio of course because we have to social distance when we have a guest in."

Dan then mentioned how he felt glad that guests were allowed back in the studio.
