DAME Barbara Windsor kept other stars in line — even Dot Cotton actress June Brown, an ex-EastEnders boss said.
Former exec producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said the star — who died this month aged 83 — was “so sharp” and knew the audience.
He said the blow-up with June came when she shouted “Your storylines are s***” at scriptwriters from her dressing room window.
He said: “Barbara grabbed her, brought her upstairs and told her to apologise.”
Babs, who played Peggy Mitchell, even told off Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell actresses Samantha Womack, 48, and Rita Simons, 43, for not wearing heels behind the Queen Vic’s bar — even though viewers could not see their Ugg boots.
The ex-show boss, 43, said Babs always wore heels and argued viewers could tell the difference. He said: “Barbara was the best executive producer EastEnders never had. She kept actors young and old in check.”
June, 93, paid tribute to Dame Barbara, saying: “While I’m still here, she’ll always be alive in my mind.”
