The third season will consist of eight episodes, which will air weekly on FX.

This release date has already proved controversial, as the show about the former president’s impeachment will air in the run-up to the 2020 US elections.

In the lead-up to American Crime Story season three, the first two seasons (The People vs OJ Simpson and The Assassination of Gianni Versace) are streaming on Netflix.

Who is in the cast of American Crime Story season 3?

So far, three of the cast members for Impeachment have been announced.

Longtime Ryan Murphy collaborator Sarah Paulson will play Linda Tripp, the US civil servant who taped her conversations with Lewinsky.

The real Lewinsky is acting as a producer on Impeachment and will be played in the show by Beanie Feldstein, the actress best known for Lady Bird and Booksmart.

Theatre actress Annaleigh Ashford, meanwhile, will play Paula Jones, a woman who sued Clinton for sexual harassment.

The cast members who will be playing key characters like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Ken Starr and Clinton’s lawyer Robert S Bennett have not been announced yet.

What will happen in American Crime Story season 3?

The plot of Impeachment will be based on Clinton’s impeachment trial, as detailed in Jeffrey Toobin’s book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.

FX CEO John Landgraf revealed in a statement: “Impeachment: American Crime Story will explore the overlooked dimensions of the women who found themselves caught up in the scandal and political war that cast a long shadow over the Clinton presidency.”

THR reports that this means the story will focus more on the untold stories of the women involved in the trial than how it affected Clinton.

Murphy told THR that he said to Lewinsky: “Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do.”
