GB News viewers will soon see Alastair Stewart making a return to the channel. The veteran ITV news anchor has been missing from the station recently while recovering from a serious injury. The journalist, who hosts his own show Alastair Stewart and Friends on the channel, has now announced he’ll be back presenting in the near future.
Alastair shocked GB News viewers last month with the announcement he would not be appearing on the channel for a while.
He broke the news in a post to his Twitter followers, revealing he couldn’t work due to an injury.
The journalist wrote: “#BreakingNews: I won’t be hosting #AlastairStewartAndFriends on @GBNEWS this weekend due to……. a broken hip!
“I fear it will be a while but I’ll be back!!! Thanks for kindness & support to all @GBNEWS, the brilliant Anita @AnitaLandLtd & my extraordinary family…”
A number of Twitter users joked about his injury at the time, suggesting it was a ploy to get out of work at GB News.
One Twitter user remarked: “How bad must it be @GBNEWS that he breaks his own hip to avoid going in.”
“Alastair Stewart sitting on his horse contemplating what’s a worse; continuing to work at Zero Viewers TV or a broken hip. #gbnews,” another joked.
A third posted: “The presenters are now breaking bones to avoid going down on a sinking ship. Must be bad. #GBeebies #GBNews #GBNewsfails.”
However, the broadcaster has now confirmed that his return to the channel is on the horizon.
In a post on Twitter he wrote: “I will be back on @GBNEWS at the end of this month.”
He also confirmed in another Tweet exactly when viewers can expect him back on-screen: “Saturday week – 28/8 & then 29/8. #AlastairStewartAndFriends on @GBNEWS.”
His GB News fans were thrilled by the news and commented their well wishes to the star.
One viewer said: “Yay! Looking forward to it. Hope all is well now.”
Another agreed: “Bravo Alastair, excellent news!”
“That’s great news, and there’s not been much of that recently!” A third remarked.
A fourth added: “Absolutely the best news for the day!”
Alastair previously updated fans on his injury on Twitter, explaining how he managed to break a bone.
The journalist revealed his accident occurred at some stables, when he was knocked down by a horse.
“I was leading in one of the horses & she bolted, knocking me over – rather forcefully!” Alastair wrote.
